Leonora Flis
Leonora Flis, Assoc. Prof. Dr., focuses her research and teaching on literary theory, contemporary English and American literature, film (particularly in relation to literature), graphic novels, and literary journalism. She also writes book and film reviews and translates both scholarly works and fiction.
In addition, she is a writer. In 2011, she was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for research at Columbia University in New York. She is also a translator, writer, radio programme creator, and moderator of discussions on literature, film, and culture more broadly. She teaches creative writing workshops, and she founded an English book club in 2013, which meets monthy at the city library in Ljubljana. She is the author of the scholarly monograph Factual Fictions: Narrative Truth and the Contemporary American Novel (2010) and two collections of short stories, Upogib časa (2015) and Enakozvočja (2022). Momentarily, she is working on her novel about Slovene immigrant women in New York in the beginning of the 20th century.
She regularly publishes scholarly and professional articles in Slovenian and international journals and edited volumes. Currently, she is coediting a volume on comics journalism with her colleague Rob Alexander from Brock University. It will be published by Routledge in 2026. Izr. prof. dr. / Assoc.
