Behnaz Amani
Behnaz Amani ist eine iranische Wissenschaftlerin, Schriftstellerin, Lyrikerin, Universitätsdozentin und Menschenrechtsaktivistin. Sie hat in englischer Literatur promoviert und ist derzeit PEN-Germany-Stipendiatin im Writers-in-Exile-Programm.
Sie ist Autorin des Buches Childhood, Marginality, and the Politics of the Civilising Process: A Discursive Genealogy of Children’s Historical Subjectivity. Ihr jüngster Gedichtband The Ashes Beneath Our Tongues setzt sich mit Exil, Erinnerung, Gewalt und Widerstand auseinander.
Nach ihrer Verhaftung und Inhaftierung während der iranischen Bewegung „Frau, Leben, Freiheit“ setzt Dr. Amani ihr akademisches und öffentliches Engagement in Deutschland fort. Neben ihrer wissenschaftlichen und literarischen Arbeit beteiligt sie sich durch Vorträge, öffentliche Zeugenaussagen und die Zusammenarbeit mit internationalen Organisationen an internationalen Debatten über Menschenrechte, akademische Freiheit, Meinungsfreiheit und Geschlechtergerechtigkeit.
Behnaz Amani is an Iranian scholar, writer, poet, university lecturer, and human rights advocate. She holds a PhD in English Literature and is currently a PEN Germany Writers-in-Exile Fellow.
She is the author of Childhood, Marginality, and the Politics of the Civilising Process: A Discursive Genealogy of Children’s Historical Subjectivity. Her most recent poetry collection, The Ashes Beneath Our Tongues, reflects on exile, memory, violence, and resistance.
Following her arrest and imprisonment during Iran’s Woman, Life, Freedom movement, Dr Amani has continued her academic and public engagement in Germany. Alongside her research and literary work, she contributes to international discussions on human rights, academic freedom, freedom of expression, and gender justice through lectures, public testimony, and collaboration with international organisations.
